SAT. JANUARY 22 - 10am-2pm Eagle Census Festival - Unique event held annually in conjunction with the Official National Eagle Census Day to count the number of wintering Eagles on the Illinois River. Event includes wildlife coloring contest, eagle viewing bus tours, and eagle related programming, including a "Birds of Prey" show from Wildlife Prairie Park. Family Event.

FEBRUARY

THU. FEBRUARY 24 - 5pm-8pm Pekin Main Street's Mardi Gras Salute to the Arts- Celebrate local food, wind, art and fun at our Mardi Gras Party at the Speakeasy Art Center. Experience live entertainment, make a fanciful mask, get some beads, eat some King Cake and celebrate our downtown. Adult Event

SAT. APRIL 30 - Pekin Main Street's May Day Run to the River - Join us for a fun run and walk from Mineral Springs Park down the bike path to the Pekin Riverfront Park for a celebration of good fitness, friends and our beautiful riverfront. Family Event

Create, Cultivate, Educate Fine Arts Show Case - Pekin Main Street, Regional Office of Education na dTazewell County are partnering to bring music, art, drama and speech to downtown Pekin with our weekly showcase. The talents of local artists, grades K-12, will be performing in the areas of band, orchestra, choir, speech and visual arts. This runs April 14th - May 20th. There will be NO performances on Friday, April 22nd.

FRI.-SUN JUNE 10-12 Tremont Turkey Festival. Famous turkey sandwiches and strawberry shortcake. Free entertainment, carnival, parade, crafts and more.

SAT. OCT. 22nd: Pekin Main Street's Halloween Parade and Downtown Trick or Treat and Trunk or Treat, 10am to 2pm. in Downtown Pekin. A popular age-old tradition to Downtown Pekin. All ages costume judging contest with prizes, parade down Court Street, and trick or treating at downtown businesses with treats for the kids and promotions. November

SUN. NOV. 27: Winter Wonderland Parade, 4:00 p.m. starts at James Field and heads East on Broadway to Mineral Springs Park. This holiday parade kicks off the light festival in Mineral Springs Park. Visit Santa, take carriage rides, see the lights and the famous fireworks show after the parade.

December

FRI. DEC. 9: Pekin Main Street's Christmas on Court, 5:00-8:00 p.m. Over 1,000 candlelight luminaries line Downtown Pekin for this holiday event. Enjoy outdoor holiday skits, carolers and live music, visit Santa, or take a carriage ride. Businesses will be open late to offer visitors treats, specials and door prizes. WEEKENDS IN DECEMBER: Santa House, hours vary. Santa will be in his famous house in Downtown Pekin on the Courthouse lawn during weekends in December. Stop in to visit and receive a free treat bag.
