JANUARY

SAT. JANUARY 23 Eagle Census Festival - Unique event held annually in conjunction with the Official National Eagle Census Day to count the number of wintering Eagles on the Illinois River.  Event includes wildlife coloring contest, eagle viewing bus tours, and eagle related programming, including a "Birds of Prey" show from Wildlife Prairie Park.  Family Event.

THUR. APRIL 30 to SUN. MAY 3 Heart of Illinois Senior Olympics - Park District facilities in Pekin, Morton, East Peoria and Peoria.

SAT. MAY 15- Pekin Fire Days 2nd Annual Event. Noon - 4:00pm  Parade on Saturday at Noon.  Showcase local area fire equipment from antiques to new models.  Pekin Fire Department celebrating 150th Anniversary. Free entertainment and kids activities. Held on Court and Capitol around the Courthouse block. Parade on Saturday along Court Street, downtown.  Family event.

FRI.-SUN JUNE 11-13 Tremont Turkey Festival.  Famous turkey sandwiches and strawberry shortcake.  Free entertainment, carnival, parade, crafts and more.

SUN JULY 4: Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce's Honor America Fourth of July Fireworks, 6:00-10:00 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.  Entertainment and one of the area's largest fireworks displays.  Call 346-2106 for more information.
SAT.-SUN.  JULY 18-19: Pekin Art Festival, 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. (Sat.) and 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (Sun.) at the Pekin Riverfront Park.  Hosted by the Tazewell County Museum, the festival features artists, craftsmen, live music and wine tasting.

Last year over 5,000 people attended this event to view over 800 cars, trucks and bikes on display. Live music, food vendors, and spirits will be available. OCT. 23: Pekin Main Street's Downtown Trick or Treat and Halloween Parade, 3-6 p.m. in Downtown Pekin.  Visit participating businesses for treats, then head to James Field to participate in the Halloween Parade (which begins at 5:00 p.m.).  Costume contests of all ages immediately following the parade on the Courthouse Square.  Call 353-3100 for more information.
SAT. OCT. 23rd: Pekin Main Street's Halloween Pub Tour 7:00 - 11:00pm.  Walking tour of downtown drinking establishments. Includes t-shirt, entertainment, raffle and drink specials. Adult event.
 
 

November

SUN. NOV. 28: Winter Wonderland Parade, 4:00 p.m. starts at James Field and heads East on Broadway to Mineral Springs Park.  This holiday parade kicks off the light festival in Mineral Springs Park.  Visit Santa, take carriage rides, see the lights and the famous fireworks show after the parade.

December

FRI. DEC. 3: Pekin Main Street's Christmas on Court, 5:00-8:00 p.m.  Over 1,000 candlelight luminaries line Downtown Pekin for this holiday event.  Enjoy outdoor holiday skits, carolers and live music, visit Santa, or take a carriage ride.  Businesses will be open late to offer visitors treats, specials and door prizes.  For more information, call 353-3100.
WEEKENDS IN DECEMBER: Santa House, hours vary.  Santa will be in his famous house in Downtown Pekin on the Courthouse lawn during weekends in December.  Stop in to visit and receive a free treat bag.
